October through December
This is considered early season with spring rains helping the river levels to rise. It brings on some of the first hatches of the year which gets the fish feeding more aggressively and less selectively than later in the season. It’s a great opportunity for nymph fishing, dryfly fishing or utilizing a dry dropper technique.

January through February
This is the peak of the summer season, expect Clearwater heavy insect activity and summer like conditions. Much of the fishing done during this time of year is single dry fly an optimal conditions for site fishing.

March through April

This is the beginning of the fall season on our local waters Water levels are dropping air temperatures are cooling and we have some of our best shots at larger fish. It can be a challenging time of year with exceptional payouts for the patient an accomplished angler.

The Lodging
The main lodge is thoughtfully set apart from six beautifully appointed guest cottages, nestled among herb and vegetable gardens and surrounded by tranquil sitting areas designed for quiet relaxation. Each cottage offers a king-sized bed (convertible to twins), reverse-cycle air conditioning, and a private veranda with sweeping views of the distant Owen Range. Inside, soaring cathedral ceilings crafted from 100-year-old recycled Oregon beams create a warm yet dramatic sense of space. Guests will find every comfort at hand, including an in-room safe, a mini-bar stocked with premium New Zealand fruit juices and mineral waters, and tea and coffee-making facilities featuring freshly ground beans. With three renowned National Parks—Abel Tasman, Nelson Lakes, and Kahurangi—located just a short distance from the lodge, this region offers endless opportunities for unforgettable non-angling adventures. The lodge is an ideal base for exploration, and a dedicated team member is on hand to curate exceptional experiences specifically for non-angling guests.

An impressive range of outdoor activities can be arranged, including golf, tennis, white-water rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, jet boating, horseback riding, and guided caving expeditions. The hiking in this area is truly spectacular, with trails ranging from one-day walks to multi-day treks of up to six days, available with either guided or unguided options.

Just 90 minutes away, the vibrant seaside city of Nelson serves as a regional arts hub, featuring museums, galleries, artisan studios, boutique shops, and local craft markets.
