Fly Fishing Cody Wyoming #109

ABout this Adventure

The Bighorn Basin is widely recognized as one of the premier trout fishing destinations in the Northern Rockies. Situated within reach of Yellowstone National Park, the region offers a remarkable range of fisheries and trout species. Anglers can pursue rainbow trout in winding desert rivers, native cutthroat in cold mountain streams, large brown trout holding along deep banks, and brook trout in high-elevation waters.

Fishing opportunities are available throughout the year. Spring, summer, and fall provide excellent dry fly fishing, while late spring and early summer runoff fill nearby lakes and reservoirs, creating ideal stillwater conditions. These lakes offer productive fishing for much of the year, often remaining viable for seven to nine months.

The area is also known for exceptional streamer fishing and consistent nymphing, both of which produce reliable action across the seasons. With its diverse waters, abundant trout populations, and dramatic landscapes, the Bighorn Basin provides anglers with an unforgettable fly-fishing experience in one of the most scenic regions of the American West.
